The Sword of Etheria

Go To

  • Breather Boss: The Water God is far easier than the previous two gods in that it has a simple gimmick (destroy the water orbs it creates to get rid of its water armour) and that the player can juggle enemies to build up their tension meter, allowing them to use Deadly Attacks to build up damage quickly. It also helps that it comes at the end of Chapter 16, which is That One Level.
  • Cheese Strategy: Leon and Vitis (2nd fight) can be both be trivialized by simply using a regular combo against them when they're guarding. If your Attack stat is high enough and you keep slashing, you will eventually break their guard and deal damage. Keep doing this without letting up and they won't get much of a chance to strike back.
  • Goddamned Bats: Tessera enemies such as Tessera Framea and Tessera Lucta are obnoxious because they tend to fly out of the player's range while firing projectiles. It also doesn't help that attacking enemies while jumping is less effective than attacking on the ground.
  • Goddamned Boss:
    • Desperabilis is for the most part easier than the rest of Chapter 11 but can be quite tedious since defeating it isn't immediately obvious. Attacking it's hands and head so you can climb onto it's back isn't hard but jumping on it's back can be quite finnicky sometimes. Once you destroy the tubes on it's back, you have to attack the head to make it spit out rocks that can be used to build up the tension meter. However building up your tension meter is heavily dependant on your teamwork with your allies, and if your allies don't bother to attack the rocks you send to them, the fight tends to drag on because Desperabilis takes very little damage from your attacks otherwise.
    • The Earth God isn't particularly hard and it's attacks aren't too frustrating but without the Rex Armour, it's a very tedious fight. You have to hack away at it until it's makeshift body falls apart then launch some of its debris to build up your tension meter so you can eventually expose the core and attack it. It takes a while to actually break its body and if you're not fast enough, the core will reconstruct the body and you have to repeat the process all over again.
  • That One Boss: Pseudorus is the boss of Stage 10 which has you fight copies of Fiel, Almira and Leon. The room is dark, meaning you'll be wasting time destroying the cores to lighten up the area before you actually begin the fight. During the actual battle, Pseudorus is guaranteed to kick your teeth in several times because each of the copies deal high amounts of damage and have zero qualms about ganging up on you. Pseudo Fiel uses slash attacks that allow them to stunlock you to death if they hit you, Pseudo Leon hits like a freighter train and Pseudo Almira tends to block most of your attacks and leave you little chance to strike when they do attack. The three of them are nasty enough that they can be considered harder than the actual final boss of the game.
  • That One Level: Chapter 16: Revenge and Redemption. The goal is to destroy the Ords which doesn't seem all that hard except that the level is crawling with Elite Mooks such as Bellator Securis, Bellator Pilum, Bellator Sica, Bellator Framea, and Bellator Ensis who can block your attacks and will deal large amounts of damage to your party. You have the Volo Amphibias who can overwhelm you if not dealt with quickly, and annoying foes such as Tessera Framea, Tessera Lucta, Bellator Arcus and Volo Telas who can snipe at you from a distance with their projectiles, and powerful foes such as Decurio Securis and Decurio Ascia who will come down on your like a ton of bricks. Suffice to say, learning how to dodge attacks and create combos to fill your tension meter is a must if you want to complete this level with anything higher than a C rank.
