YMMV / The Simpsons S1 E7 "The Call of the Simpsons"

  • Franchise Original Sin: This is one of the first episodes when it's pretty blatant that the writers have a very strong Double Standard separating the Simpson women and the men, but it's pretty easy to let slide because the juxtaposition between Lisa and Marge roughing it up swimmingly (and Maggie finding bears that take her in and can do stuff like test if bottled milk is warm or hot before giving it to her) and Homer and Bart's absurdly Epic Fail is incredibly hilarious, compared to "Lisa the Simpson" and saying that being doomed to be a loser is literally encoded in the male Simpson gene (though to be fair that was later retconned in "HOMR" where it's revealed a crayon lodged in Homer's brain is actually responsible for his lack of intelligence as opposed to a gene).

  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The RV rental worker's comment about Homer never being able to get a better RV is this with the existence of "Mobile Homer".
