• Aluminum Christmas Trees: Nitroglycerin is actually used to treat heart conditions (obviously, not the pure stuff).
• Moral Event Horizon: Sideshow Bob in all of his appearances tried to kill Bart, and committed other villainous acts such as in "Sideshow Bob's Last Gleaming", when he tries to atom-bomb the entire city just so he can get rid of television. But he finally crossed the line when he decides to get people to hate Bart while he's on trial, fake his death, and, with the help of his whole family, burn Bart alive in a coffin being pushed into a furnace. Fortunately, he is caught and, along with the rest of his family, is sentenced to 87 years in prison.
• Unintentional Period Piece: The parody of Microsoft's Office Assistant, aka "Clippy," firmly dates the episode before 2007-08, when the character was phased out of Microsoft Office.
• Unintentionally Sympathetic: Prior to the reveal that Bob faked his death, Bart is made to feel horrible by the rest of the Springfield for not mourning the death of the man, despite him trying to kill the boy repeatedly (and threatening the town itself on multiple occasions). Marge even tells him to look sad, when Bart (not unjustifiably) points out that he has nothing to feel sad about.
