• Crosses the Line Twice:
  • A dingo devouring a baby? Horrific. A video game dingo being tasked with finding and devouring seven crystal babies? Hilarious.
  • The ending with Homer eating Pinchy after accidentally killing him ("I wish Pinchy were here to enjoy this!") and not letting anyone else in the family have a piece of him. He spends the whole time crying for Pinchy all the while remarking how delicious he is, and punctuates it be snapping the lobster in half and sucking meat out of its main body.
• Harsher in Hindsight: In the case noted above, Azaria Chamberlain's parents were exonerated of her murder in 1988, and a coroner officially ruled in 2012 that she had been killed by a dingo, issuing a revised death certificate reflecting this ruling. A similar joke had been made in "Bart vs. Australia".
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Near the start of the episode, Bart asks if the family can become Catholic for the wafers and booze, to which Marge replies "no-one's going Catholic!" In a later episode, Bart and Homer actually would go Catholic.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • "Super Nintendo Chalmers".
  • "I'm learnding."
• Woolseyism: Due to the word "Lobster" translating in French as "Homard", very similar to "Homer", Pinchy is called "Homard Simpson" in the European French dub, which makes the subplot a lot more memorable for the French fandom.
