YMMV / The Simpsons in Plusaversary

Go To

  • Ho Yay: Homer and Goofy. From Goofy's bashful reaction to Homer claiming him as his plus one, to the two of them reaching for each other longingly as they're separated at the end.
  • Memetic Mutation: The poster with Homer and Goofy talking to each other has made the rounds on Twitter, with jokes on how Goofy complains how he and Donald aren’t allowed to join Sora in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate being common.
  • Questionable Casting: No Disney character with a speaking role is reprised by their official actor. It’s especially jarring with Goofy since Bill Farmer has been voicing him for well over a generation by now, and most imitations, like this one, usually just sound wrong as a result. Ironically, Simpsons regular Tress MacNeille, who herself has a multitude of official Disney character roles under her belt, appears here voicing one that she doesn't normally voice, Maleficent.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Even for a short, many felt the short didn’t take advantage of its premise and just resorted to character cameos to lampshade how many are owned by Disney. In addition, none of the Disney characters featured are ones also officially voiced by The Simpsons voice cast, leaving no opportunities for jokes based on shared voice actors.
  • Unexpected Character:
    • Bluey is on the guest list despite her show not being made by Disney, or even being on the service in Australia and New Zealand.
    • Two historical figures from the American Revolution and immediately afterwards appear on the guest list. This appears to be a reference to the film version of Hamilton that is on Disney+.
    • There are even a few unexpected legitimate Disney cameos that one wouldn't expect due to how niche they are, from Cobra Bubbles from Lilo & Stitch, to the son of the main character in Bao.
