• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • It's not the last time the name "Twilight" will be associated with a story that has a young, angsty vampire, a brunette willing to be turned, and a family of vampires.
  • From the musical:
    • Houzuki An (Jan Clifford) plays a character who is The Casanova, whose affections for Hanano Juria's character (Rachel Twilight) is not appreciated by Yuzuka Rei's character (Allan Twilight). In the Casanova musical, staged the year after Poe, Yuzuka Rei plays Antonio Condulmer, Houzuki An plays Lady Rosalia (Antonio's wife), and Hanano Juria plays Lady Soria, one of Casanova (Asumi Rio, who played Edgar)'s lovers, and Condulmer's ex-lover.
    • Yuzuka Rei would go on to play another Lonely Rich Kid who's kowtowed to by the private school he goes to (except for the new transfer student who doesn't belong in the students' world) in the Takarazuka Revue adaptation of Boys over Flowers. Shiroki Mirei (Margott) plays the transfer student this time, and Seino Asuka (main cast Georgie, Edgar in the junior performances) plays Yuzuka Rei's romantic rival.
• Ho Yay: There's plenty of it between Edgar and Allan, which isn't surprising considering how creator Moto Hagio was an early pioneer of Boy's Love manga. Their first appearance in the musical is a duet dance laden with homoerotic subtext. Edgar resists turning Allan the first time he bites the latter because, according to his inner narration, he doesn't want to "extend [his] claws towards someone [he] loves again". It culminates in them running away together to start a new life and rebuild the Poe clan in the musical.
• Tear Jerker: Poor Marybell's entire life is a Trauma Conga Line, but the standout is the musical scene where Clifford terrorizes her with a cross to show Jane that she's a "monstrous" vampanella. As Marybell curls into herself, screaming in horror and possible pain, Jane desperately shouts at her to get up, not wanting to believe the kind, angelic girl is indeed a bloodsucking monster. Then Marybell gets shot and killed by Clifford, leaving Edgar alone in the world, without both his blood and adopted family.
