- Award Snub: Despite being the highest-grossing independent movie of the year and earning critical acclaim, the movie failed to be nominated by any big name award shows. However, Shia LaBeouf and Zack Gottsagen at least had the honor of presenting the "Best Live Action Short Film" category at the Academy Awards.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: This buddy film starring Shia LaBeouf was praised for its depiction of Down Syndrome and casting of an actual neurodivergent actor, but then Shia's ex Sia did her own attempt at a film with a similar premise two years later that had a very inaccurate depiction of a neurodivergent character played by a neurotypical actor and was widely condemned for it.
