• Draco in Leather Pants: Almost all of the few pieces of Drood fanfiction on the internet feature a Jasper/Rosa pairing. Because there's nothing as sexy, apparently, as being ogled by your drug-addicted music teacher who happens to be your fiancé's uncle, and who may or may not have murdered said fiancé. Seriously?
• Fanfic Fuel:
  • It's a murder mystery that was never completed, leaving many gaps for fans to fill in themselves. Even with the synopsis revealing that Jasper is the murderer, many people prefer a less obvious approach and find ways to justify other characters being Drood's murderer. The premise of Drood runs off of this by writing in several endings where the murderer is one of several other characters.
  • The real identity of Dick Datchery was never made clear even in the synopsis. Drood runs with this as well, allowing people to vote on which character was disguised as Datchery and giving reasoning behind the choices.
