YMMV / The Impossibles

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: The Impossibles' boss is called "Big D"
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: The Paper Doll Man is the most popular villain from the show and has been the subject of many a YouTube Poop.
  • Estrogen Brigade: Inevitably for a cartoon about a boy band; many girls watched the show because they found the characters attractive (mostly Fluey).
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Forgotten in America, but huge in Japan, where it was called Super Three. The Battle Cry became 'Rariho', which in turn became 'Lali-ho'. It has been referenced in Dragon Quest as a sleep spell, Final Fantasy as the dwarves' greeting, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders as Death Thirteen's Character Catchphrase.
  • Narm Charm: The villains are ridiculous, the catchphrases are cheesy, and the animation is limited, but it's all the more fun for it. It can best be compared to Batman (1966) on this account.
  • Values Resonance: Coil-Man is fat, but he is just as strong and smart as the other Impossibles. His weight is never touched upon except for when a few villains make fun of him for being "tubby," but they are obviously supposed to be unlikable. Coil-Man being a likable and powerful character who isn't a Fat Comic Relief is quite impressive for a show made in 1966.
