YMMV / The Hills Have Eyes Part II

• Narm:
  • The constant use of flashbacks early in the film. There's even a scene of a dog getting one, for goodness sakes.
  • And there's also this gem from Reaper.
    Reaper: Reaper don't get fooled like Papa Jupe!
  • Which is followed up by ...
    Roy: Reaper SUCKS!
  • Ruby comically falling off the motorcycle 5 seconds after getting on with Hulk. The fact that this indirectly ends up killing Hulk just adds to the narm.
• Nightmare Retardant: In the first film, Pluto was a genuinely threatening character, but has undergone massive Villain Decay in the sequel and is never shown killing anybody. Then there's the Reaper, who looks like the bastard spawn of Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Part 2, Immortan Joe, and Mars from the first movie. And he's even more comical than that description alone.
• Sequelitis: This sequel almost universally regarded as being irredeemably awful, and Wes Craven himself admitted he did it simply for the money. The poor treatment of returning characters Pluto and Ruby adds to the film's general poor quality. It is tempting and common for fans of the first movie to view the sequel as non-canon, especially given how its creator felt the same way.
