YMMV / The Flash 2014 S 4 E 11 The Elongated Knight Rises

• Alas, Poor Scrappy: In spite of Axel's polarizing reputation, fans took pity on him because his father basically left him to rot in prison while he himself broke out (apparently twice by now). Axel's mother shows up and frees Axel herself, even calling James Jesse a deadbeat father for such a treatment.
• Jerkass Woobie: Despite being a deranged lunatic, it's hard not to feel sorry for Axel since all he wants is his father's love.
• Replacement Scrappy: Instead of showcasing the much loved James Jesse Trickster, we are treated to his son Axel, who just comes off as a shallow, bratty imitation of his father.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
  • Barry in jail would be the perfect time for Wally to come back to town and prove himself outside of Barry's shadow — it's probably because of his transfer to Legends of Tomorrow.
  • This episode would've been the perfect time to bring back Mark Hamill's Trickster. Of course, Hamill was a little busy around the time this episode would have been in production.
