  • Crosses the Line Twice: The Iron Lung gags, which are completely played for laughs. Mind you, this cartoon came out at a time when polio was a very serious epidemic (the vaccine for it wouldn't be invented until the 1960s so it had quite the deserved reputation). It took some serious balls for Clampett to use it as an innocuous gag prop (even though it was later revealed that Clampett — and even Chuck Jones, who worked as Clampett's animator — hated the iron lung gags because they felt it was in poor taste).
