• Retroactive Recognition: A seventeen-year-old Robert Carradine makes his film debut as Slim Honeycutt.
• Values Dissonance: Andersen is willing (albeit very reluctant) to allow Cimarron on the drive. Until Cimarron gets into a fight with another boy, who insulted his mother. While Andersen was justified in stopping the fight, he does not punish the boy who insulted Cimarron's mother. Rather, he dismisses Cimarron instead. Even taking the young man's knife and gun from him. Which as Cimarron himself points out, are his rightful property for which he paid for.
