YMMV / The Amazing World of Gumball S2E8 "The Job"

• Aluminum Christmas Trees: A Swiss woman died attempting a sunlight-only diet, similar to the one Mr. Small is on in this episode.
• Bizarro Episode: Even by this show's standards, this episode is weird.. The episodes prior to this one were relatively normal Slice of Life plots with some weirdness added in to keep the episodes interesting. This episode has a Class X4 apocalypse seconds away from happening all because Richard got a job and seemed to be good at it (which, in this show's universe, is enough to cause a Reality-Breaking Paradox). Future episodes that continue the Deconstructive Parody trend that this episode started put it into perspective somewhat, but it's still one of the weirder episodes overall.
• Growing the Beard: This is widely considered to be the first episode of The Amazing World of Gumball that fans considered a great episode. The jokes are hilarious and dark, it's the first time the show acknowledged its Medium Blending and did large-scale scenes of disaster that rival most CGI films made today, and the plot's Deconstructive Parody of Status Quo Is God set precedent for episodes like "The Void" and "The Finale".
• Squick: Gumball and Darwin make a makeshift pizza out of mud, grass, and rocks, with chewed bubblegum off the porch as a stand-in for mozzarella. This would be gross enough, if Mr. Small didn't eat the whole thing in a starvation-induced mania, and promptly pass out on the stairs. Even worse, Mr. Small isn't one to chew gum, so that might have been someone else's gum entirely!
