YMMV / The Amazing Spider-Man (1978)

• Older Than They Think:
  • If you thought Raimi’s Spider-Man not quipping was a betrayal, this version rarely speaks while wearing the suit.
  • This series predates the MCU Spider-Man movies of not mentioning Uncle Ben at all and having a balding J. Jonah Jameson.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: The series did have legitimate technical and budgetary reasons why they could not use villains like the Green Goblin or Dr. Octopus, but that's no excuse for not using more down-to-earth characters like Kraven the Hunter, the Chameleon or the The Kingpin. It appears that the producers were trying to emulate the formula of the 1970s Incredible Hulk TV show, which had also largely abandoned its source material's more fantastical elements, including the rogues gallery.
