- Fridge Horror: The final entry ends with Ted promising to update the site as soon as he returns from the cave with Joe and B, implying, of course, that he never made it back.
- Older Than They Think: This was Creepypasta before there was Creepypasta.
- "Seinfeld" Is Unfunny: Considering it was a Creepypasta before Creepypastas were a thing, it, unfortunately, uses a lot of tropes that would become cliches of the genre. The protagonist are incredibly Genre Blind, becoming obsessed with a place/thing that they know is dangerous but keep poking at anyways, ritualistic drawings in the cave itself, the protagonist having their mental state affected by the cave and the protagonist returning to the dangerous area/monster in hopes of getting some closure and/or killing whatever it is. However, many have noted it still holds up better than a lot of later creepypastas, thanks to the use of pictures and relying on Primal Fear and Claustrophobia for most of the story than the creature itself.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Based on the trailer for the indie film, many dislike how it seems to be missing the points that made the original pasta so terrifying. For starters the creature is up and foremost when many note the thing that made it so scary in the first place was the fact that we don't get to see what it is or have it described to us. Then there's the fact that Ted apparently gets stuck in the pass at some point in the movie, something that doesn't happen in the pasta itself, which many feel like the developers of the movie are using as a cheap scare tactic. Then there's the monster apparently following Ted out of the cave and back to his house...
