• Hilarious in Hindsight: This fic came out years before the episode "Spice Up Your Life", but Amber Spice is surprisingly similar to Saffron Masala.
  Bugsydor: So you've got an orange unicorn mare with a saffron flower cutie mark and a poofy mane, and she has a bit of an attitude. All she wants to do is cook exotic foods, but the unicorn society around her is extremely unappreciative of it. (Apparently, your typical local unicorn wouldn't know flavor if it walked up, introduced itself, and bucked them in the face.) She has a good relationship with her father, and fond memories of cooking with him...

  FanOfMostEverything: Furthermore, she cooked with her father when she was younger, and now finds herself far from home in a culture that makes little sense, where they willingly eat disgusting substances she'd never even conceived of.
  The parallels run amazingly deep.
