YMMV / Tails' Skypatrol

Go To

  • Anti-Climax Boss: While the final boss, Witchcart herself, is by no means a cakewalk (it's possible to get a cheap hit that'll quickly knock you onto the floor if you're not careful), she is comparatively easy in contrast to the previous bosses and can be defeated the most quickly.
  • Bizarro Episode: Perhaps even more so than Tails Adventure. The gameplay is not only radically different from other Sonic titles, the setting and characters make this game feel out-of-place in the series.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Rail Canyon would later become the name of an (unrelated) stage in Sonic Heroes.
  • It's Hard, So It Sucks!: And how! Tails' Skypatrol could've been a perfectly serviceable (if forgettable) game on any home console such as the Master System, but is instead mostly remembered as being among the hardest Sonic games ever made, and not for good reason. Not only does the severe Screen Crunch make seeing ahead nigh-impossible, the game also suffers from Hitbox Dissonance, which is really bad in a game where Everything Is Trying to Kill You. The result is what is often regarded as one of the worst handheld Sonic games ever made.
