YMMV / Swashbucklers: Blue vs. Grey

Go To

  • Game-Breaker: Some of the perks fall under this. The biggest would be the three perks that allow you to treat your men along with repairing your sails and hull after combat, saving you a lot of money.
  • So Okay, It's Average: General consensus is that it is a forgettable B-list/C-list game.
  • Shocking Swerve: The Final Boss having a prosthetic ripped right out of a science fiction work to fight you. He even lampshades it!
  • Underused Game Mechanic: Quite a few of them fall under this, due them violating common sense and/or not being a viable source of income.
    • The boxing minigame. A few hundred dollars ain't going to pay for ship repairs by mid-game.
    • When you capture a ship after looting its inventory, you have the option to 1) let it go, 2) burn it, 3) sell it or 4) have it replace your own ship before selling the old one. Not surprisingly, no one ever takes options one and two, as it gives no reward.
    • The shipyard is only used to repair and upgrade your ship. Why bother buying when you can just seize a ship on the open sea for free and earn money selling your old one?
    • The trading mechanic is mostly unused as you earn more money capturing and selling ships.
