YMMV / Superman And Lois S 3 E 12 Injustice

  • Informed Wrongness: Everyone keeps saying that Clark is more careful than Jordan is being when it comes to protecting his secret identity. Except that Jordan is wearing a hood and goggles to hide his face, whereas the only difference between Clark Kent and Superman is a pair of glasses. Superman is also not above basking in public adoration by appearing in downtown Smallville regularly ever since Clark moved back to town. Sam also mentions tracking Jordan's flight paths. Except that Clark also flies into and out of the farmhouse all the time.
    • It's worth bearing in mind that Clark is such an expert actor that his ex-girlfriend and childhood friend, whom he still spends a lot of time with, stood right next to him in broad daylight and didn't even put him together with dorky Clark Kent until he explicitly spelled it out for her. Successful Clark Kenting, despite what parodies will tell you, is about far more than just a pair of glasses—he changes his posture, his diction, wears baggy clothes, etc. He's very careful to make himself seem weak in public. For example, he made a big deal out of carrying the water cooler, and it was mentioned Kyle pantsed him in high school. Jordan just wearing a hood and goggles doesn't act any differently as Superboy than he does as Jordan Kent, so someone who knows Jordan's civilian identity could easily recognize him with a hood and goggles.
    • As for tracking the flight paths, it's possible that (with the exception of the times he's really in a hurry) Clark flies in a loop or something so that he isn't always going straight to the farmhouse. Additionally, Superman is regularly seen all over the world, so him showing up once in a while in Smallville or flying to/over that area isn't as notable as Jordan, whose activities are pretty much only confined to Smallville and its immediate environs, with a few exceptions. Superboy is very clearly a resident of Smallville; Superman might be from anywhere in the world.
