- Angst? What Angst?: Kara's smile at the end of the battle with Mercy and Otis is a little surprising coming from an All-Loving Hero who just watched two people get killed. Of course they were bad guys, but Kara isn't usually ok with anyone dying if it can be prevented. Also, we never find out Lena's reaction to the death of the person she once considered a surrogate big sister.
- Moral Event Horizon: If he hadn't done it before, Agent Liberty fully crosses the line in this episode, enacting a plan to sic mind-controlled aliens on children to provoke public xenophobia. Making this even more disgusting, Agent Liberty is a father himself; he knows what it's like to fear for your child's life, and he's actively trying to spread that feeling around to suit his own agenda.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
- After just about everyone assumed Fiona was dead, she's brought back on... just to actually kill her this time. It's such an odd storytelling move that some fans are seriously wondering if there was some last minute issue with the actress' schedule.note
- Also Mercy Graves, especially considering the writers had established she had a personal connection to Lena.
