- Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: How brutal the Trauma Conga Line is, with unhappy moments always meeting unhappy fates, especially deaths, can make the readers roll their eyes.
- The Woobie: Finn. His Trauma Conga Line is absolutely depressing, having many of his family members dying, forced out of his pack, and, completely under the influence of the Phantom Ruby, kills off millions without knowing it.

Unmarked spoilers for Suffer!- Awesome Moments: Sonic risking his life to retrieve an electric guitar for Ace, and then teaching him how to play it.
- Harsher in Hindsight: "That just left Riker and Roux. She swallowed. Riker seemed to bully the others. She could raise him not to be like that. He could learn. If she let Pierce hold him she might not get the chance." As revealed in Deceit, Riker didn't learn, and ends up being exiled for raping the healer in-training.
- Nausea Fuel:
- Infinite is described with having bits of flesh in his teeth after mauling Lance.
- Keelie bleeding from her womb, and making a bloody trail, before Death by Childbirth is also nauseous and heartbreaking.
- Nightmare Fuel:
- The Illness, caused by fish-infesting worms and responsible for the eradication of males from Zayla's jackal pack. Any male infected by the Illness degenerate both physically and mentally. Their pupils first shrink into slits, their head tilts involuntarily, they start bleeding, and eventually become disfigured. According to the author, they're being Eaten Alive by the worms inside out, slowly and painfully. All while they start fighting other males to death brutally with only fangs and claws, treat females as Baby Factories and rape them, and even kill off the pups. Not to mention any pup produced by an infected would be deformed also. Zayla's Flashback to the Illness is both pure Nightmare Fuel and Tear Jerker.The fight was over in a matter of minutes. Ghost ripped Zayne's throat out with his teeth. Blood gushed from his neck. He swallowed the chunks of flesh, then grinned at her. His teeth were stained with his friend's blood.
- An infected Lance's Attempted Rape of Gaia. We're treated to a scene in which Infinite finds Lance having stripped Gaia naked and pinning her against the bed underneath him. When Infinite tackles Lance off his mate, Lance fights back and throws a vase at Infinite before returning back to Gaia. Then Infinite shoots Lance in the head and kills him. Apparently, worms are seen in the bullet hole, eating away Lance's brain and sanity.

- Tear Jerker:
- Maybree being dumped by Ace. To Ace, it was just some casual fling, while to Maybree, it was a chance at long-lasting romance. One can feel how it hurts for her to be rejected in such fashion.
- Keelie's Death by Childbirth. At the brink of death, she thinks it's a Karmic one for being a Jerkass to her sons and husband. She was slowly dying from developing a wolf pup too big for her body, but this hits so hard that it devastates everyone involved.
- Let's be honest, Pierce's best brother and the Jackal Squad's best friend Lance falling succumb to the Illness and being killed as the result. Seeing your close one meet this fate is simply tragic. This is further elevated when Lance reacts in horror and guilt to what he has done when he reaches the Afterlife.
