• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Mafuyu is holding a potato for much of the beginning of episode 10, but after Ken asks, "Why do you have a potato?", it is never seen or asked about again.
  • Possibly a Shout-Out to Ikaros's watermelon.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: According to the recent character polls◊, Mafuyu is the most popular character in the show. She even made it to the Top 8 during Saimoe 2010.
  • Ken's sister Ringo is very well received by the fans. The 5th episode and 6th episode where she made an appearance received above 80% positive response, currently the show peak record.
• Genius Bonus: One Imagine Spot shows a group of boys going ga-ga over Minatsu teaching math. The writing on the blackboard behind her is a proof of Euler's identity, "the most beautiful theorem in mathematics."
• Ho Yay: Several instances between Kurimu and Chizuru, like in episode two when Chizuru turns Kurimu into her pet, mindslave thing.
  • In the Light Novels when making a radio show Kurimu makes Minatsu and Mafuyu read a yuri script on air. Ken was pleased with this.
• Nightmare Fuel: Chizuru is SCARY.
  • The suddenness and Nightmare Face in the Higurashi reference (scene here) also qualifies.
• Tear Jerker: Chizuru's reconciliation with her Poisonous Friend from junior high in Episode 9.
  • The Bittersweet Ending of the second season is both this and a Heartwarming Moment. The girls of the student council all tell Ken that they love him (in unison!), but Kurimu and Chizuru are graduating while Minatsu and Mafuyu are transferring, leaving Ken to complete his last year at Hekiyou by himself.
