- Cliché Storm: The WW2 program. Fridge Brilliance would put that down to the Future Imperfect trope; the whole thing is likely based on Hollywood History, as it'd previously been established in Trek canon that World War 3 caused the loss of a lot of information about the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
- Les Yay: Janeway/Seven shippers have had a ball with the fact that Janeway and Seven are dressed basically like Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, especially when Seven sings, "Would it be wrong to kiss..."
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: As in "Waking Moments" five episodes previously, B'Elanna, who has never been shy about physical combat, doesn't have any kind of role in the Nazi captain's comeuppance after taking his abuse for a whole two episodes. Roxann Dawson was big-belly pregnant by this point and her role was restricted accordingly.
