- Harsher in Hindsight:
- "The DNA doesn't know how to lie." That's not what O.J's defense team said.
- Tuvok scoffs at how light a punishment just being confined to quarters is, which can ring especially hollow to people who went through the COVID-19 Pandemic and now know EXACTLY how bad it can be to be trapped even in the comfort of your own home.
- Ho Yay: Suder description of the meld as, "Penetration. Your will dissolving mine. The joining."
- Narm:
- The way Holodeck!Neelix falls dead with a goofy head-tilt is perfect Nightmare Retardant.
- Evil Tuvok is mostly legit Nightmare Fuel, except for the downright weird delivery of "RELEASE THE FORCEFIIIIIELD!"
- Nightmare Fuel: Most of the episode; an exploration of the darkest impulses of the Vulcan psyche, combined with the one & only Brad Dourif doing his thing. Probably one of the creepiest Voyager episodes, which is saying a hell of a lot.
- Take That, Scrappy!: Tuvok kills a holographic version of Neelix while dealing with the effects of the mind meld. "A conversation with Neelix" was apparently the best test of his self-control he could think of.
