  • Anvilicious: The visual of Alphekka IV breaking up was disturbing enough. But the sight of a version of Earth that's turned into a volcanic wasteland is downright bone-chilling.
  • Awesome Music: During the shuttlecraft launch sequence, "All Systems Go" from Apollo 13.
    • During the Deep Space Nine flyover in 2378, the end credits theme from the pilot of Star Trek: Enterprise.
    • And right after that, "Shakedown Cruise Report" from Star Trek V: The Final Frontier as we get our first glimpse of the year 2378.
    • When the 2399 Fitzgerald powers up and leaves the nebula, the BGM is "Cody's Flight" from The Rescuers Down Under.
    • When the Fitzgerald and the blue ISS Voyager go to warp to make the trip back to 2367, the blaring tones of "To 1885" from Back to the Future Part III.
    • In a nod to the other Star Trek III, at the climax when the 2378!Fitzgerald beams the shuttle aboard, an excerpt from "Bird of Prey Decloaks" is the BGM. And it's awesome.
  • Fridge Logic: Hargrove and Ronston are both shown wearing captain's insignia (and indeed, Hargrove is addressed as "Captain" on one occasion), but when push comes to shove, Ronston immediately assumes command and everyone addresses her as "Captain." It may be assumed this is because Ronston is still the ship's commanding officer, and the others would resume their old posts out of habit.
    • Then again, Dr. Falwell does address Hargrove as "commander" just before they transport down to Vandor IV, and Hargrove is acting an awful lot like an overprotective first officer.
    • In scenes in the observation lounge, the ship's third nacelle is never visible.
    • So, Garr built the ISS Voyager, ostensibly for himself...yet, when we see the mess hall, it looks like it was laid out exactly like a typical Intrepid-class starship would be, with seating for dozens of people.
      • It proves a particularly compelling vision when Garr wanders the ship later, yet every room he goes to is depressingly empty.
    • During the Battle of Beta Stromgren, the Mark II is supposedly on a heading out of the system, but during most of the shots it appears to be standing still.
    • When Prentice detects Dark Garr's escape pod among the debris of the Mark I ISS Voyager, Ronston gestures to Falwell to go to sickbay as she orders Kal to transport Garr there. Yet, a few minutes later, she and Prentice visit Dark Garr in sickbay, Falwell is nowhere to be seen. They even use her office so Mitchell can give them information.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Several scenes with Dr. Falwell fit this heading, first when she gives some advice to Captain Ronston, and then later when she tells Mitchell it's time to fix things between her and Kal.
    • Later, when Ronston asks Kal to return to Starfleet, and puts a combadge on her desk. The fact that a piano rendition of "Wherever You Will Go" is playing in the background pushes this almost into Tear Jerker territory.
    • Shortly after that, Kal visits a brooding Garr in his quarters, and convinces him to return to work. In a fit of anger, Garr lashes out at her, but then sees her expression and immediately regrets it. Kal forgives him, and then he comments that at times, it seems like a part of Reyf is still with them. Cue broad smile from Kal.
    • And in the very next scene, after returning to work, Garr goes to seek Mitchell's help with some shield equations, and winds up getting her and Kal back together. The end of the scene, when Kal and Mitchell are in each others' arms and gently rocking each other as the music swells, is a genuine Tear Jerker.
    • With the fleet on its way to Beta Stromgren, a visibly melancholy Dark Garr visits his beloved Price is Right holoprogram, and when it fails to cheer him up, he wanders aimlessly around the ISS Voyager, growing more and more depressed as every room he visits is pointedly empty. Made all the more poignant by seeing the two starships Fitzgerald on the viewscreen, as well as the sad piano version of the Voyager theme playing in the background.
    • A conversation between Hargrove and Kal, as the former admits she was wrong about Kal before in urging Ronston not to trust her, and says she plans to be with her when she tells Starfleet her commission should be reinstated permanently.
    • Later on, when Ronston has her Heroic BSoD, Kal gives a speech about Ronston helping her find her place again, followed by everyone else telling her to resume the captain's chair. The scene marks the third appearance of the Arkology theme from Andromeda.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • The crew talks about the Earth being reduced to one big volcano, but then when the shuttle flies down close and you see there's nothing left. Then you think about there being no suvivors...
    • The first time jump shows the timeline un-making itself, from the perspective of the good guys (complete with Crowning Music Of Heartwarming). When the second time jump happens, though, we see it from the perspective of the 2378 Garr, who relives the events of Star Trek Specter, this time accompanied by the theme from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The result is definitely eerie.
  • Tear Jerker: The shuttle flyover of the lava-fied version of Earth. Even tough-as-nails Hargrove finally breaks down at the sight of it.
    • When our heroes are about to go back in time and are under attack from Cardassians and all seems lost, Merv Ronston shows up to rescue them. This, after Kendra was so mean to him earlier on.
    • During the Time Travel sequence, the crew seems to be caught up in the wonder of what they're seeing, and Kal and Mitchell—who haven't said so much as two words to each other the whole time—look at each other and actually smile.
    • During the shuttle flight in 2378 from the Azure Nebula to DS9, the conversation between Kal and Ronston, when we find out that even after leaving Starfleet under apparently less-than-acrimonious circumstances, Ronston continued to look after Kal and tried to keep her out of trouble, despite a self-destructive downward spiral.
    • Near the end of the film, during the Wolf 359 sequence, and Thomas Reyf refuses to leave his post as the crew evacuates if it means the opportunity to hit the Borg just one more time. Doubles as a Moment of Awesome as he boldly declares, "If those bastards want to go after my son, they'll have to go through me."
    • The montage sequence after Wolf 359, showing the crew dealing with their grief in the wake of the attack. Kal and Mitchell are comforting each other, Hargrove is actually crying, and even Kendra Ronston appears on the verge of a nervous breakdown, so much so that Prentice appears to be assuming command in her stead.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome.
    • The planet of Alphekka IV blowing up.
    • The Battle of Beta Stromgren. Two starships Fitzgerald and two starships Voyager duking it out, in the middle of a supernova remnant, whose clouds are visible in EVERY exterior shot.
    • The recreation of the Battle of Wolf 359, featuring shots that are even more accurate and detailed than the originals in Specter.
