- Esoteric Happy Ending: As usual with Star Trek, the episode treats the one town visited as if it was representative of the entire planet, which raises the question of what is going to happen once other towns learn about humans living alongside the despised aliens. It also raises the question of how the aliens themselves will react. If only one town allows Skagarans to get an education, then it's quite possible they'll start leaving other towns to move there. It's also likely that a sudden influx of immigration would raise the previous racial tensions, thereby putting the new peace into doubt.
- The Autobiography of Jean-Luc Picard does at least show that Archer's actions planetside have a positive as the Skagarans are now treated as equals.
