Spartacus Blood And Sand S 3 E 10 Victory

  • Alas, Poor Scrappy: Naevia's death was found to be quite sad, as she's given a sword through the shoulder almost in the same way her childhood friend Diona was executed in front of her.
  • Awesome Music: The track "A Free Man" that plays over Spartacus's death sells the heroism and tragedy of this one man rolled into one, especially the way the violins escalate as the rain falls.
  • Broken Base: Kore's fate - being crucified after Crassus learns how she was hurt by Tiberius and did nothing wrong. Some find it too bleak an end for a character who had already been through a Trauma Conga Line, and say that Crassus could have thought of a different fate for her. Others argue that had she lived, her fate would have been even worse, since the senate would undoubtedly want her punished for defecting to the rebels and killing Tiberius, and that it was something of a Mercy Kill.
  • Fan-Preferred Cut Content: Lugo's original scripted death couldn't be filmed due to budget constraints, but it would have involved him luring the Romans to the now-empty camp that had been covered with oil, and then setting it on fire as a Heroic Sacrifice. As great as his actual death was, this would have been beyond badass.
  • Fandom Rivalry: With the Game of Thrones finale, or rather the episode "The Long Night", which had a climactic battle that hinted many characters would die...only for most to implausibly survive, whereas Spartacus killed the majority of its cast, including the lead character. The two are often compared to each other. At the time of airing, it was compared to the battle of Blackwater, which was the most recent Game of Thrones battle then, making this a case of Friendly Fandoms too.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Pompey finally appears on screen, played by Joel Tobeck, who conveys the Smug Snake tendencies instantly, and he makes an impression in some impressive white armour.
  • Sacred Cow: Considered among the show's best episodes, and also one of the best series finales in history.
  • Tear Dryer: The revelation that Agron and Nasir both survived the battle, and are the only couple to survive the series, does quell some of the heartbreak at the majority of Characters Dropping Like Flies.
  • Too Cool to Live: Gannicus finally meets his end, and is the last of the soldiers to die, even surviving the battle itself and being crucified.
