  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • This episode lampoons the amount of George Lucas Altered Versions that were coming out at the time, complete with a Parody Commercial for a remastered version of "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe." A decade later, Trey and Matt went back and remastered the earlier episodes in HD, including making similar changes to the animation and adding extra sound effects and music (albeit the changes are generally subtle enough that you won't notice the difference unless you're watching the original and HD versions side-by-side).
    • The episode portrays Steven Spielberg as the mastermind behind all the alterations being made, with George Lucas weakly following along. In real life, Spielberg came to regret changing E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and made sure all future theatrical and home releases of the film were the original version, and never edited his movies again. Meanwhile, Lucas continued to alter the Star Wars films up until Disney bought the rights. Francis Ford Coppola, who briefly appears late in the episode, would also re-edit Apocalypse Now once again in 2019.
  • Values Resonance: On the current streaming era where movies, tv shows and video games can be edited to removed stuff can be consider offensive, slap with content warnings about "outdated content", get re-makes that are "uptaded for the current era" losing what may them special in the process, or in the worst case, the owners refusing to re-release it to avoid any kind of controversy, the main plot of the episode about keeping art as it was made and the parodies of Lucas and Spielberg upating their movies (like changing "Nazi" to "Person with political differences" on Saving Private Ryan) can be seen as more important than ever.
