The Woobie: Sonic is brought back to life by Miles, only to find that ten years have passed and his world is all but ruined. His fiancée has been cajoled into marrying someone else, who proceeded to turn against their friends, kidnap her, brainwash her, and turn her into a Magitek user to cripple the Freedom Fighter movement.
Sally herself, in that respect. She is captured by a new model Metal Sonic, locked in a tank while Sonic attempts to save her, and despite her efforts to convince him to be more careful, he goes in as reckless as ever and is killed. Eggman gets serious, forcing the Freedom Fighters onto the back foot, and forming his alliance, and while they slowly form up, she then finds herself being pestered by Ken Khan to marry him. She puts her faith in GUN, and they are destroyed by the Death Egg, and when she accepts Ken's proposal he shortly joins the Alliance to both preserve himself, and kick back at the other Freedom Fighters, none of whom had approved of his efforts to get close to her.
Tails sees his Big Brother Mentor killed, and another of his friends forced to shut down permanently afterwards. He tries to soldier on, but friends and allies keep dropping, and his remaining parental figure, Sally, is soon kidnapped and brainwashed, afterwhich his girlfriend is outed as a spy and brainwashed, then commanded to roboticize herself on a live broadcast.
Miles is crippled, dismembered, and made to watch his wife and daughter be killed in front of him, all for something that they had no involvement with. Shortly afterwards, Scourge manages to turn the planet into a firepit. He joins the Freedom Fighters to try and get back at Scourge, but then his only remaining friend, Fiona, is roboticized, leaving him alone again. He manages to form a few connections with the other Freedom Fighters, but he only really comes close to getting on with Sonic and Tails. In the final battle, he goes to fight Scourge, intending to get himself killed in the process, and gets his wish, managing to return home just long enough to collapse against Alicia's grave and expire.
Auto-Fiona stands, semi-conscious on a beach for well over twenty years, before being taken by Metallix, modified into a shape-shifting battle machine. Her memory core is decayed, and Metallix uses this to convince her that he is her father, and that Fiona is her mother. Convinced that Tails hates her, and brainwashed Fiona himself, she tries to 'rescue' her mother, fails, and is ordered to kill Amy by Metallix for reasons that she simply does not understand. All while having the mentality of a ten year old.
