YMMV / Sonic Generations: Friendship Is Timeless

• Crossover Ship: Played with; there isn't really any shipping between characters of the two different universes, but Shining Armor and Cadance THINK there's something going on between Sonic and Twilight. The few times they bring it up to them, though, they're completely confused.
• Harsher in Hindsight: If the story had been written after the events of My Little Pony: Equestria Girls, Eggman definitely would have added Celestia's failure with her former apprentice Sunset Shimmer to his reason you suck speech, because in canon, it was revealed that she considered that one of her greatest failures.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: The whole concept of the Mane 6 getting Super Forms, after the Season 4 finale.
• Misaimed Fandom: The author never intended for readers to agree with Eggman's "The Reason You Suck" Speech, but since he repeated a lot of the anti-Canterlot Wedding talking points, some of the people who already disliked the episode thought he had a point.
• Tear Jerker: Shining Armor's apology to Twilight over what happened in "A Canterlot Wedding". The Time Eater has him and Cadance in its grip after dealing a serious blow to the Mane Six and Sonic. Shadow's words from earlier echo in his mind as he fears this may be the last thing he ever says to her. Shining also realizes at this point what Shadow went through when he lost Maria.
  • To make this worse, this came after Eggman called him out for his dismissive attitude towards the invasion and how he threw Twilight aside for 'Cadance' when she made her cry completely out of his own free will; He’s finally realizing that he could had lost his sister to something he could had prevented, only for him to dismiss both the threat and Twilight in his need to get married to Cadance.
