- He Really Can Act: Whatever faults the film has, many critics have noted that this is the best acting they've seen from Johnson.
- Nightmare Fuel: Any interaction between the drug dealers has some of this thrown in.
- Tear Jerker:
- Jason and John's conversations in prison, especially after he gets "assaulted"
- There's also something particularity sad about Daniel and Malik's last conversation. Especially how fast Malik is to except his fate, before giving Daniel the information he needed.
