YMMV / Shinnen New Year

Go To

  • Author's Saving Throw: The author corrects and have new concepts from Guilty Crown: Lost Kingdoms. For instance, there are some new backgrounds of these characters that have more freedom and how they interconnect their new positions by taking over their canon selves.
    • Back in Lost Kingdoms, the author put the rest of the Puellas' witch counterparts besides Kriemhild, this crossover has only Kriemhild appear to be more receptive in focusing on recent antagonists. LK!Funeral Parlor shows more of the human aspects rather than expies of other races (meaning over 80% of the organization composes of humans instead of half it all).
    • Besides this crossover serves as an ultimatum of all his previous fanfics, the author shows more focus to the canon Guilty Crown characters, especially with Shu of how as a means of Where It All Began as part of his contributions to the fandom.

  • Continuity Lock-Out: There are some readers that find it hard to follow with a lot of characters, not to mention it takes place after Guilty Crown. While it is a large mega crossover, the main author has one alteration in making it enjoyable to readers without knowing any other references.
  • Crossover Ship: There are a variety of these: Sailor Mars and Hiei.
    • Seto Kaiba and Lyn Stromberg (OC).
    • Sailor Jupiter and Mako Tsunami.
    • Sailor Mercury and Vega James Hunter (OC).
    • Sailor Venus and Rio Kuroshishi (OC).
    • Chibi-Usa/Neo Moon and RJ Urameshi (OC).
    • Eren Yeager and Hare Menjou.
    • LK!Arisa Kuhouin and Helio Kaiba.
    • Sayaka Miki and LK!Ayase Shinomiya.
  • Growing the Beard: From previous character corner fics and the author's other stories, Shinnen takes it much further.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Ch. 19 shows Skuld summoning the undead. Well since her civilian identity is French, and around November 13th, 2015 that the tragic incident happened, some of the victims are implied to be part of the horde...
    • Sadly the voice actor (C. Martin Croker) of Moltar passed away in 2016, showing that this fanfic is a last hurrah.

    • In Ch. 31, Glenn Rhee is killed by Canon!Mana's virus. Comes the Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead that he's killed by Negan, meaning Glenn is killed twice (the second time he's not coming back to life this time).
  • Heartwarming Moments: The Lost Kingdoms group and the magical girl defending Canon!Shu from the threat of two former Tennouzu classmates.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The English dub version of Guilty Crown's final episode epilogue had the casts last words are "To the New Year!", this is what the co-authors have create this mega crossover to expand that meaning.
    • In Chapter 8, Captain Ginyu mentions his thanks of Freeza getting back his own body back. I wonder what happened officially in Dragon Ball Super?
    • Chapter 1 has Kirito mention himself being Samurai Jack, alongside the Minions of Set appears and Arago's super form looks like Aku. Then, Adult Swim renews the cartoon for 2016.
    • Chapter 32 shows the The Powerpuff Girls (2016 versions) siding with the Green Lanterns (John Stewart, Razer, and Aya). Promos of the PPG reboot shows the girls creating similar constructs.

    • The last few chapters has Lelouch of Code Geass making a cameo announcing his revival and meeting the two Shus. Comes the last week of November 2016 announces a sequel to the anime with Lelouch returning.
    • Of Future Trunks assisting in defeating Demigra in Chapter 27, it foreshadows him defeating Zamasu, another time-related antagonist, in Dragonball Super.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: The author mentions this for readers that like to see a good quality crossover story. Generally, it's also the humor and battles at times.
  • One-Scene Wonder: A woman named Harune Kanzaki appears in Ch. 18, to which she's a Da'ath agent.
    • Oberon's slugs, only appear in Ch. 27 that they are easily killed off by Silica.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: The author has plans for Canon!Shu and Ayase to be more active in the conflict.
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: This is the character corner that will be close to epic proportions of fanfic writing. It is also this to the author's previous fanfics.
  • Wham Episode: The end of Chapter 5 reveals Da'ath's return with their expanded organization.
    • The post-credit scene of Chapter 19 shows that Yuu & Kriemhild are bringing someone from the nexus dimension as the 'ultimate weapon'.
    • The post-credit scene of Chapter 25, Rexy and Blue from Jurassic Park/World make their appearances.
    • The end of Chapter 28, Yuu & Kriemhild releasing Zeed X.
    • Chapter 29 takes it much further, showing the return of Canon!Mana and Gai, alongside the revelation that Canon!Yuu is the real founder of the Da'ath organization.
  • Win Back the Crowd: What the author intended to some fresh concepts.
  • The Woobie:
    • Canon!Shu is one since one: he lost Inori, two: he's blind, and three: he's generally hated to the public even some of the YYGDM founders. Who knew that his past mistakes lead him to this.

How well does it match the trope?
