• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The first OVA episode starts off with Ross slaying Nisepanda and the scenes folowing, only to then go on to explain why Nisepandas have long necks and that they used to have long ears.
• Ensemble Dark Horse:
  • Elf November and Teuffel (pronounced Toy-fell) (i.e. characters who haven't been introduced yet in the anime) are very popular in Japan.
  • Nisepanda◊, who is not a panda... Too bad he's quickly killed off in the manga. Becomes something of an Ascended Extra in the anime for his popularity though, featuring prominently in the ending theme long after the only episode he shows up in (episode 1).
  • Nisepand and Teuffel both got OVA episodes about them, with Teuffel making his first appearance.
  • Samejima, who gets listed in character profiles across the Internet after having appeared for two seconds in an imagination spot by Janua.
  • Alba's Mom. She ranks 9th place in the popularity poll, despite having less than 3 minutes of screen-time.
• Alternate Self Shipping:
  • Some people ship Alba/Boss, even if they don't really get along very well.
  • It's rare, but there have also been fanworks of The First Great Mage/Boss, usually depicting The First Great Mage disguising himself as Pillow.
• Jerkass Woobie:
  • Rchimedes, lost his wife and child due to one of his inventions, going crazy over the loss.
  • Ross, his father killed his best friend in front of his eyes, killed him, and after Crea developed mana due to the desire of wanting to save Sion, Rchimedes possessed his body. The poor boy spent most of his adolescence as a wanderer, focused on saving Crea.
  • Elf, he traveled back in time to get enough mana to save the planet from a threat, but was unable to return, and after that he gradually forgot about his goal and his best friend
  • Boss, his whole family and village were destroyed, and the only person he trusted did nothing to stop that.
