- Critical Dissonance: The movie was acclaimed by many critics and won some awards, but for others it is considered mediocre at best. Even fans of Nina Paley consider it a big step backwards from her previous film for its considerable Author Tract and numerous uses of Straw Misogynist.
- Overshadowed by Controversy: Around the time this film came out it (and Sita) have been overshadowed by Nina Paley's growing outspoken TERFnote beliefs.
- Uncanny Valley: The burning bush through which God speaks to Moses has eyes or mouths on its leaves (sometimes the same leaf morphs from an eye into a mouth and back).
YMMV / Seder-Masochism
