YMMV / School's Out! The Musical

  • Awesome Music: All of the songs, but "Kids Just Being Kids", "The Pixie Rap", "With You", and "Where Is The Fun" are noteworthy cases.
  • Broken Aesop: The lesson of most of the movie is that you shouldn't force your concepts of fun on others. However, in the final act of the film, after Flappy Bob finds out the Pixies had been lying to him, he decides that Timmy's ideas of fun were superior all along and immediately abandons his ideals of "safe fun". It's somewhat justified because "safe fun" isn't what Flappy Bob naturally considers fun; he's been brainwashed by the Pixies, and constantly slips into his clownish nature. Happy Peppy Gary and Betty are more straightforward examples, whose feelings are completely disregarded when the kids overrun the Learnatorium at the end and Timmy wishes to "fix" all the fun. It's a great ending for everyone... except Gary and Betty, who actually believe in the ideals of "safe fun". They didn't force anyone to come to the Learnatorium, but they're still treated as wrong for offering the service at all.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • A depressed businessman with shoulder-long black hair, who dresses up as a clown for whatever reason? Wait...
    • A clown who grows up to be a boring bureaucrat, but eventually embraces his clownishness? Hmm...
    • An antagonist who was adopted by the true villain(s) as a young child and raised to do their bidding, paving the way for their rise to power, while thinking he was in the right for his extreme ideals? Huh...
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: While "Kids Just Being Kids" is still a great song, any hardcore fan of Digimon Adventure can tell you how much it reminds them of "Butterfly".
  • The Woobie: Flappy Bob. Poor guy. He was separated from his parents, used and manipulated by the Pixies and lost sight of his roots and true calling all as part of an evil plot on the part of the Pixies. This is one clown who needs a hug and really earned that happy ending.
