YMMV / Save Ralph

Go To

  • Artistic License – Biology: One reason rabbits are used in eye irritant tests in real life is that, unlike humans and many other mammals, they are unable to produce tears to wash away foreign substances. In the film, however, since Ralph is an anthropomorphised animal and What Measure Is a Non-Human? is in full effect, he sheds a tear thinking about his dead family and the fact that he will inevitably share their fate.
  • Fridge Horror: Take a look at the bank of lockers in the last scene. The side facing the camera is covered in dozens of names representing the rabbit "employees" of the lab - and most of them are crossed out, indicating that they've died on the job. Ralph's locker has a long list of names on it as well, all of them crossed out.
  • Tear Jerker: The entire thing. Seeing cute rabbits being treated so poorly is not a pretty sight for the faint-hearted.
  • The Woobie: How can you not feel bad for Ralph? While he acts happy to help the humans, behind his smile there's a clear sadness. Justifiably so given the horrors he experiences. Especially tragic is how his composure is all but gone at the end, where the day's testing has left him in immense pain, and either totally blind, or well on his way to being so. Not to mention, Ralph offhandedly mentions how every member of his family has died from testing. Even his kids. And sadly, Ralph is almost certainly correct that he'll die from testing as well, though by that point it might as well be mercy given what's being done to him.
  • Woobie Species: All of the other rabbits suffer just as much as Ralph, and unlike him, they make no attempt to hide how how utterly terrified they are of the testing. Making matters worse is how they're all kept together, which just means all of these poor bunnies get to watch as their friends get tortured.
