  • The series was very popular in Spain, possibly because all Sandokan TV series, either live action or animated, used to be big there. However, because it gets often mixed in pop culture with the Spanish Anthropomorphic Animal animated adaptation, if you ask a Spaniard about a Sandokan cartoon from his childhood, whether he knows this or the other will depend entirely on how old he is (the Spanish one was released in 1993, the Italian one in 1998), and he will often be unaware that there were two series in the first place.
  • The series was also almost legendary in Hungary.
