- Poor Man's Substitute: Alfred Hitchcock wanted Robert Donat to play Spencer, but he didn't. Accounts differ as to why (either he didn't like the role, or his then-boss Alexander Korda refused to loan him out, or he came down with bronchitis and with a tight filming schedule Hitchcock couldn't put things on hold). John Loder is reminiscent of Donat in his portrayal of Spencer.
- Values Resonance: As a film examining terrorism from the perspective of the perpetrators, including the way it affects their families, it remains relevant today, and holds up quite well.
