- Money, Dear Boy: In later years, Kanigher was generally proud of the fact that he wrote because it earned him a living, rather than for the art, though on the way he definitely wrote some genuinely groundbreaking stories.
- Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: Kanigher generally just sat down and wrote, without plotting or planning. He famously wrote a nine-page story in his lunch hour once, because the inker had mistaken a note saying "Drop an inch"* for part of the design and inked the cover using that as the title. So Kanigher wrote "Drop An Inch" to fit the cover. More details, and the story, here.
