YMMV / Road Runner's Death Valley Rally

  • It's Hard, So It Sucks!: The biggest criticism of the game is that it's just too darn difficult due to unreliable controls and the large, complex level designs that quickly start to look the same, which combined make the levels very difficult to navigate. And there's no password system and no save system, and continues are limited, so once you run out it's back to the start screen. The game has a cheat code to let you start with 99 lives, and even with that code, completing the game is considered a challenge.

  • The Problem with Licensed Games: While the game is widely praised for its faithful homaging of classic Road Runner cartoons, its steep difficulty and clunky controls when platforming turn most players against it once the charm of the premise wears off. For a game that tried to let players feel like they were playing a real Road Runner cartoon, the game is more fun to watch than to play.
