  • Memetic Mutation: The clip of Bugs physically sawing off Florida and shouting "South America! Take it away!" became incredibly popular after the debacle of the 2016 presidential election.note  It will always pop up on social media whenever another crazy thing gets reported on from the Sunshine State.
  • Unintentional Period Piece:
    • Some of the gags that Bugs pulls off might not mean much to modern audiences. For example his vandalism of a DC bench marked "Reserved For Bernard Baruch" seems trivial if you didn't know who Baruch was and why sitting on benches to meet with major political figures was a habit of his.
    • Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary would close as a functional prison in 1963 — 15 years after the release of this cartoon — but would later reopen as a museum and become a popular tourist attraction.
  • Values Dissonance:
    • This cartoon’s whole premise is based on Americans not considering rabbits to be harmful enough to warrant a bounty higher than two cents a hide. Tell that to Australia, a country that has had to deal with invasive rabbit populations causing millions of dollars in damage to crops, trees, and other natural environments since the 1800s (to the point where the Australian government has resorted to biological warfare on multiple occasions to try and cull them).
    • The scene of Bugs selling Manhattan back to the Native Americans, not just due to his often-cut line “Eh, they wouldn't take it until I threw in a set of dishes”, but also its bevy of stereotypical Visual Gags.
