YMMV / RadicalSoda

Go To

  • Arc Fatigue: RadicalSoda spends 7 whole videos talking about his extreme dislike for Pokémon Sword and Shield, a game which is ultimately just considered So Okay, It's Average among the fanbase. The total view time of the entire series is almost 4 hours.
  • Broken Base:
    • Poppy. While fans like her just fine, she's the source of frequent confusion by newcomers who assume she represents the host is a woman, resulting in accusations of clickbait.
    • The focus on Sonic. Though much of his fanbase is made up of fellow Sonic fans, there are many who enjoy his review style but have no interest in Sonic, which leaves most of his content unappealing.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • If a review isn't Sonic based, fans will act like it is anyway.
    • Mistaking Soda for a woman on your first arrival.
    • "This isn't X, this is just...Grand Metropolis again!"
  • Most Wonderful Sound: His opening theme, taken from Sonic R.
    Livin' in the city!
    • More specifically, it is the "LTN Mix" of Livin' in the City that comes from the Sonic Gems Collection.
  • Nightmare Fuel: In the ending of Every Single Smash Bros. Character, as soon as the Raycon promotion is over, it immediately cuts to a still and slightly saturated image of RadicalSoda making a very disturbing face and staring directly at the audience as a droning noise plays. His voice is incredibly distorted (and glitches out at some point), his mouth is moving like a ventriloquist doll, and slowly and noticeably zooms in as he's speaking.
    • After he's done talking and showing his patreons, not only is he completely silent, but there's also a booming sound of footsteps. After a short while of this, the footsteps change to running footsteps. Not only that but said footsteps gradually getting louder and louder, until it cuts to the outro.
  • Squick: Comparing Elastigirl's Beta Outfit to a diaper. And adding a fart noise.
  • Spiritual Successor: With his energetic review style, distinctive accent, love of Non-Sequiturs, and random sense of humour, it's common for fans to call him the Kiwi JonTron
  • Take That!: Very frequently takes potshots at Pokémon (or Nintendo in general), to varying degrees of success given they're sometimes not particularly relevant to the main video topic.
  • Viewer Gender Confusion: Thanks to his extremely female mascot and his own luxurious long hair, almost all first-time viewers mistake Soda for a woman. Because of this, it eventually reached the point where RadicalSoda updated his thumbnails and channel icon to have his own Author Avatar, Poppy.
