• Fridge Brilliance: Tom calls Harry his mother and Voldemort his father. He also looks exactly like a Voldemort did at 16, except for his eyes, which are identical to Harry's. Seems appropriate, considering how often it's mentioned that Harry looks exactly like a younger version of James, except for having Lily's eyes.
• Ho Yay: They may dislike and even hate each other a good deal of the time, but there is an undeniable connection between Harry and Voldemort throughout the story, spoken about by Voldemort in chapter 132: 'What we've done to one another, for each other, against each other... the most passionate of lovers and the most viscious of enemies would not have conceived of attempting. We are beyond mortal understanding or sentiment.'
  • It is said however, that the named 'connection' stems most likely from Harry being a reincarnation of Voldemort's former mentor and from the suspected circle of reincarnation the two of them seem to be trapped in, without knowing it.
  • In Dumbledore's opinion, Carrigan (Voldemort's mentor) was the only person Voldemort ever came close to loving. Which only makes the Ho Yay between him and Harry more prominent. That said, Voldemort has yet to realize Harry is the reincarnation of his former mentor though Harry already knows.
