YMMV / Precipice

YMMV tropes for Precipice:

  • Heartwarming Moments: The simple fact that Anakin doesn't fall to the Dark Side and gets to raise at least one of his children. Given what a Fate Worse than Death his life as Vader was for him canonically, it's really heartwarming to watch him raise Leia alongside his family.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The story gave Palpatine a child years before the release or even announcement of The Rise of Skywalker, which revealed that Rey is Palpatine's granddaughter and her father is his child, though he was later retconned via supplementary materials for the film into being his failed clone rather than his immediate descendant.
  • Squick: Palpatine having a child. The entire readership of the story had a collective reaction of disgust to it. Even the author is repulsed by it and refuses to go into any details beyond "he had a kid."
  • The Woobie:
    • Anakin really gets hit with this. He's pretty much a constant ball of self-loathing and guilt thanks to his failure to protect anyone during Order 66, his consideration towards Palpatine's offers, and the ever present dread that his family will be discovered by the Empire and get taken away. Pretty much the entire readership of the story tends to go "Poor Anakin" whenever something terrible happens to him.
    • Padme is another case of this. The constant fear she has to deal with both from the life threatening circumstances her husband goes through coupled with her and her son's close proximity to the Emperor makes it easy for the readers to feel sorry for her.
    • Lavinia, the daughter of Palpatine, is horribly abused by her sociopath of a father and forced into the Sith upbringing with no say in it.
