- Awesome Music: Pretty much all of the custom music from Reflourished itself, composed by Peamix and Ericksatto. Holiday Mashup contains the instruments of each holidays, Steam Ages contain the background sounds from the train and frankly fitting to the chillings of the Industrial Revolution, and Assault Airspace's theme that includes background General Camo's grunts, pieces of Zombotany's leitmotifs and aircraft noises.
- Best Boss Ever: The 2.0 bosses are huge improvements from the base game, as they bring in cool visuals. The Zombot Lawn-O-Tron, Zombot Seasonal Sleigher, Zombot Loco-motive, Camotron Vulture Fighter and reimagined Zombie Catastro-liope are also in this trope too.
- Ensemble Dark Horse:
- Mr. Boss-inator's original character, Moss Mechanic, is a Mechanic Zombie that gained a traction for the funny line of Do Not Rush Art.
- Another fellow Chief Body-Type Zombie, Elder Hailstorm, is also well-liked due to his code of honor of supporting the players and is a benevolent ruler of his tribe, as a stark contrast to the brain-eating zombies.
- Out of all of the original characters created for the Big Bad Ensemble, Miss Information is seen as particularly stand out, mainly due to her cute design and having amusing dialogue while still being an impressive manipulator. The levels she stars in hilariously toying with the player's expectations is also a plus.
- Friendly Fandoms: With other popular PvZ2 mod Plants vs. Zombies 2: Alternate UniverZ. Reflourished even made a collab event with that game, where every stage will include zombies from UniverZ. One of the splash texts even recommends people to try that version out too.
- Low-Tier Letdown: While she was universally considered the biggest Game-Breaker of the vanilla game, many believe the nerfs Reflourished gave to Pokra were a serious overcorrection. A full volley of her attacks falls just short of defeating a Browncoat, thanks to her jabs being half as powerful as a Peashooter pea, and her drill attack being reduced to a mere 80 damage. Her drill still has armor pierce, but it's so infrequently performed that it's barely effective at all. As a result, she's considered strictly worse than slightly more expensive melee attacking plant Parsnip, and cheaper, ranged Anti-Armor plant Lily of Alchemy.

- SpongeBob Age. Explanation
- Security System Takes Control. Explanation
- Do not rush art. Explanation
- Just like the fellow popular mod AltverZ, some fans tend to nick name the mod with soundalikes, such as Reflushed, Refurbished, etc. Even one of the lead developers PeaMix did the same to the April Fools Event music video titles.
- Jokes about Caliginous Carnival before its release spawned, including variations of mocking the PvZ community about it and clown jokes such as "Why so serious" from The Joker.
- Add in Sky City Explanation
- SpongeBob Age. Explanation
- Moral Event Horizon:
- Dr. Zomboss and his Holiday Mashup would cause timeline destruction, according to Penny. He showed awareness yet no concern of leaving harm to our worlds.
- In Assault Airspace, General Camo showed to be capable to usurp his younger self and take him out of command of the army, creating a Stable Time Loop out of himself; and was willing to drastically alter history in order to enact his overdue revenge.
- Most Wonderful Sound: Pretty much all of the custom SFX, especially the Shamrock Shake with a Scottish-accented sound effect.
- Play the Game, Skip the Story: While it has a significantly better storyline than vanilla Plants vs. Zombies 2, a majority of the fans tend to focus on the gameplay rather than the plot itself. While Reflourished does put a bigger emphasis on the story, gameplay still comes first and foremost.
- That One Attack:
- All of the Reflourished-exclusive Zombots have the ability to call in zombies when they tap their foot, overwhelming you with zombies that appear in all lanes.
- From Hypothermic Hollows, there's the Shellshock Hunter Zombie, whose snowballs are able to instantly freeze the first plant it hits, thereby making an instant barrier that the plants need to break, and allowing zombies to get through.
- Assault Airspace has the Commando Zombie, which has two attacks that it alternates between. The first is a forward shot that can be blocked by plants and deflected by Puffapple. The second is an arced shot that hits your base directly from afar and cannot be stopped in any way except Infi-Nut's Plant Food barrier. While this damage isn't too big, it can add up quickly if the zombie isn't taken care of fast.
- Both of Camotron Vulture Fighter's third phase attacks. The first is electric link that can vaporize several lines of plants if not destroyed and eventually covers all five lanes and the second is entire barrage of laser bullets that spreads to the entire lawn and can destroy plants that are not Puffapple in seconds.
- Prankster Zombies will eat plants in their way, but once they get to column 6, they will throw a dynamite at your most expensive plant, which is almost guaranteed to destroy it since tanks aren't as expensive as powerful attackers.
- That One Boss: Multimplicity, fought in Day 36 of Holiday Mashup. He's very slow at the start, but has a lot of health, making him an already tough challenge. But the real challenge comes when you start to damage him - he starts splitting apart into more Imps! Even though the Imps have less health than Multimplicity does at full strength, they become faster as they become smaller. They also jump forward one tile each time they split apart, allowing them to quickly infiltrate your defenses, or even take out your lawnmowers when you don't expect it. Even using the lawn mowers isn't enough to stop them, since they'll continue to split apart! And if you're really unlucky, the smallest Imps will be able to get past the lawn mowers and eat your brains without issue. For all these reasons, fans consider him the hardest and most annoying mid-boss in the entire mod.
- That One Level:
- Most of the expansion levels can be rather tough, primarily due to more flags for each level, the introduction of much stronger Underground Monkeys (either returning from the main Plants vs. Zombies 2 or new original zombies for Reflourished), new mechanics in each world that can overwhelm your defenses, and, of course, the 2.0 bosses. These can make even the infamously infuriating Big Wave Beach or Jurassic Marsh even more frustrating to get through. Thankfully, these levels do introduce stronger plants for the player to combat these new challenges.
- Even though most of the levels are quite tame, Hypothermic Hollows is no stranger to having its fair share of rage-inducing stages. The main offenders of this are days 6note , 12note , 14note , 19note , and 20note . It seems like the developers took notice, as they eventually nerfed these specific levels and zombies in a later update to make them less of a hassle to complete.
- Level 10 of the Children's Day 2024 Limited Thymed Event. In this level, most of the zombies are Imps. Doesn't seem so bad, right? Well, it certainly will be until you realize that among those zombies are Repairimp, Mechanic Zombie (who is able to summon Clockwork Zombies to infiltrate your lawn), and even smaller Imps that can split into more Imps. More of them show up as the levels progress - combine that with the Clockwork Zombies, surprise presents filling the lawn, Toy Car Imp, and the inclusion of Multimplicity as the boss at the end, and you have an absolute nightmare of a level. There's a reason why fans consider the Children's Day Thymed Event one of the worst events in the game.
- They Copied It, So It Sucks!: Although the mod is highly praised, some fans were displeased when Rock Carrier Zombie was revealed to have a similar ability to Reanimator Zombie from Plants vs. Zombies 2: Alternate UniverZ, with both summoning a grave-like grid item upon death. This was resolved when Peamix (one of the main developers of the mod) made a video with a section explaining that zombies with theoretically similar concepts/behaviors can can ultimately hold drastically different roles.
- Unexpected Character:
- The Overstuffed Zombie from PvZ Heroes makes his appearance in Holiday Mashup as one of the Food Fight zombies.
- Pitchfork and Outhouse Zombies from old version of PvZ3 appear in here as well, lining up with the Harvest Festival zombies.
- As part of the Big Bad Ensemble, the Anti-Bully Squad from the official comics returns, as well as the addition of General Camo, Hunterria and Greedy from Graveyard Onslaught, adding extra layers of variety and danger.
