YMMV / Plague and Treachery on the Oregon Trail

Go To

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: A Very Special Message From Dongs McGee.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: They crossed that line, went back, crossed it again and gave it dysentery.
  • Enforced Method Acting: While riding down the river, to simulate Cyrus riding while blind, Chewbot plays the minigame with his eyes closed.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Susan, for reasons on Memetic Badass, below.
  • Fridge Horror: One of the MANY affairs that Susan admits to is Matt, the mentally disabled owner of a general store. During her death, she reveals that Matt is Cyrus' son.
  • Advertisement:
  • Ho Yay: It's implied one of the oxen might have had feelings for the other.
  • In Memoriam: After finishing the story, Chewbot released a music video dedicated to all the family members that couldn't make it to Oregon. It's actually almost pretty emotional.
  • Memetic Mutation: Mornin' Cornin'.
  • Memetic Bad Ass: Susan, who got the most fan art, as well as her own theme song made.
    • Memetic nothing! She's a BRITISH SPY!
  • Squick: Do you not like to read about diarrhea in colorful detail? Then you probably shouldn't read this LP, because there's a LOT of it.
  • Tear Jerker: Susan's death. Along with the moments where the narrator visits Sarah-Jane's mental state as she desperately misses the friends and fiancé she had back home.
    • Plus the chapter in Snake River where all of the family members reevaluate their lives. Cyrus starts treating Waffles with more respect, Susan confirms to herself that she really does want a life with these people, and Sarah-Jane realizes that her fear of water comes from when Susan tried to drown her as an infant and tries to return the favour. Which Susan tearfully apologizes for.
