- Common Knowledge: It is often said that Penguins Memories takes place in the aftermath of the Vietnam War, however the characters actually refer to the war as the "Delta War", but whether or not it's an analogy for the Vietnam War is up in the air.
- Memetic Mutation: Has been seen as Club Penguin in the Vietnam War thanks to a viral clip on YouTube.
- Narm: It's a neat movie and one of the few times where an advertisement movie, let alone one for beer was closer to a movie instead of a feature length commercial, but it's really hard to take it seriously, despite its subject matter, because its art style does not fit it at all.
- Retroactive Recognition: Studio Junio did some animation in this film. Years before they would become more recognised for animating the cutscenes to Sonic CD.
- Values Dissonance: Apparently, a woman should give up all her dreams in order to be a housewife if she falls in love.
- Vindicated by History: Despite the backlash and reception it got from the release up to recent years as of 2017 having been uploaded online by a fansub group so more people can now see it, the film is now seen as a hidden gem amongst some anime fans and Vailskibum watchers after he discovered and praised the film which led to more people discovering it. Combined with the recent Club Penguin memes, Penguins Memories is at least starting to become appreciated.
