YMMV / Override: Mech City Brawl

Go To

  • Catharsis Factor: If beating the pulp out of another giant robot isn't good enough for you, buildings crumble at a touch. Have fun.
  • Funny Moments: In the Final Boss, General Mavis tells you It Has Been an Honor before he goes off to destroy the Titan Drive production facility. The thing is, he knows he'll have plenty of time to escape. He just fully expects you to get your ass kicked.
  • Play the Game, Skip the Story: The story mode does its best to spice things up with a variety of enemies, occasional attacks by corrupted mechs, and some RPG elements, but the plot itself is just a Cliché Storm. And while some of the mech pilots make for interesting characters, the supporting cast is stock and one-note. Thankfully it's just a side to the multiplayer.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: For some reason the Arcade Mode only has one save slot, forcing you to delete it to go through with any other mech. Kind of defeats the purpose of save slots, don't you think?
  • Spiritual Successor:
    • Giant alien threat combated by a military operation using numerous Humongous Mecha? Multiple pilots controlling the same robot? It's a pretty sweet Pacific Rim game.
    • The gameplay and concept is very similar to War of the Monsters. The tone is however taken from Anime and Tokusatsu instead of B-Movies, and the combat has a lot more depth to it.
  • That One Level: Brazil is covered by a humungous bridge that confines the mechs movement and generally gets in the way. In crowded battles it is easy for everyone to get stuck in one spot.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Malika/Setesh is The Rival for all players except herself. The bare bones story could have had some replay value from matching up different pilots to different rivals, making an overall better use of the cast.
