YMMV / My Sister, My Writer
aka: Ore Ga Suki Nano Wa Imouto Dakedo Imouto Ja Nai

Go To

  • Bile Fascination: Many viewers who continue to watch the anime adaptation do so to see just how bad the animation quality will get. Others stick around because it's a shameless Cliché Storm of tropes surrounding harem anime.
  • Cliché Storm: Do you like your harem series with Brother–Sister Incest and the same tired meta-commentary on otaku culture? Add this to the backlog.
  • Designated Hero: It's hard to see Yuu Nagami as a heroic character, when he's basically using his sister's talent as a way to become a famous writer.
  • Fetish Retardant: The Fanservice is supposed to be one of the series' main draws, but the anime goes Off-Model so often that any scene that attempts to be titillating usually ends up being ruined by how poorly drawn and animated the characters are.
Mother's Basement: "This show is to regular ecchi what eldritch texts are to self-help books. I'm pretty sure that if you tried using this for its intended purpose, your dong would come out the other end looking like a Junji Ito creation."
  • Harsher in Hindsight: A separate light novel series, A Sister's All You Need, had an arc involving an in-universe light novel author getting excited about his work receiving an anime adaptation, only to have his hopes crushed by the poor quality of the adaptation. Girlish Number is similarly focused on an in-universe shoddy light novel adaptation, though from a different point of view in the industry. Viewers familiar with either of the above works couldn't help but feel a sense of déjà vu when reflecting on the production quality of this anime.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: This work's Portmanteau Series Nickname is ImoImo; though "Imo" in this case is short for imouto (meaning "younger sister"), imo is also Japanese for "Potato". Given that "potato" is often used to refer to videos of terrible quality note  it became unusually appropriate for this anime's animation quality.
